The second picture is a shot of Pete sitting with Mike Shabiti, an overseer at the COH home.
Below is a picture of some school children where we stopped to inquire about some child-headed homes. When I got out of the van the children gathered around the Muzungo(white) guy.
The next picture is one where Pete was just walking toward the church hut in the IDP camp and a little boy just ran up beside him and grabbed his hand to walk to the church hut together.
"The Three Amigos" (sorry Bernie, Jae-Jae & Linda) walking in the IDP camp letting people know about the Jesus Video that would be showing at the church hut.
Next is just a random shot of a little girl standing beside a hut...a little girl like so many. Dorie pulled out a little girls dress she had brought and gave it to the little girl's mama...they were so happy!
Dorie and Pete wanted me to make sure I took a picture of them standing beside their new Ugandan home. It's only a one room'r, but they said they could make it work with all their kids...hahaha. Their going to ship the barn and animals over separately.
This shot is just one of the church hut where we gathered for the movie and distribution of beans and rice.
Finally Pete took a shot of me 'jamming' (playing bongo's on my knees) with the muscians in the IDP camp. All their instruments are completely home made and sound incredible. I have some video footage of them doing worship which I think you will all appreciate.

These pictures speak over a thousand words! Thanks for sharing and keep them coming! So hard to choose which ones to put in the bulletin :)
Bring a child home for us! My heart breaks for the kids. We are praying and missing you here but so glad you are touching lives and hearts in Gulu.
Silly me. I didn't even realize this blog was here until today. Amazing stories and pictures. I cannot imagine the emotions you all must be experiencing. So much sadness and lack. Good thing we serve a Good God who loves and has unlimited resources. How wonderful that NTC can be a friend to Gulu. You are in our prayers here at home. Love you all.
Hello Gulu
Been checking out Gulu on Google Earth. very interesting - northern Uganda has a fairly high elevation -3700ft. water only flows away from the town. Though I did notice what looks like some sort of man made reservoir to the eastside. also noticed an airstrip. Is that used much? And to the northern end of it, there appears to be a small lake.
Alot of rectanguar buildings (??) it seems and of course we can see alot of huts. where exactly are you? Can we have the coordinates of the compound -found on Google earth?
God is good

Dave & Fam, I am not aware of the reservoir, and if it is there it would only have water during the rainy season. Regarding the air strip, it is no longer in service, so there are no flights in and out of Gulu. I would not be able to give you the coordinates since our internet is soooooo slow I could never find it on google earth. We are just outside the downtown area of Gulu, I think on the north west side of the city.
Donny,
Just checking news tonight (midnight Thurs) - they are talking about major airflight cancellations in europe due to the volcano ash from Iceland volcano. Right now it affects northern europe - Great Britain, France and brussels. but they are estimating that the ash cloud will affect most of central europe next week.
We Pray that it won't affect your flight back home.
Dave
Hello folks, What great pics! You all are looking really good...must be the climate agrees with you. So glad you are there to see first hand what we can only imagine. It's heartbreaking to see the need but if we can just help one or two, it's worth whatever the cost. We are praying the ash cloud will shift far away from the flight paths you'll need to use to get home. (Our granddaughter is due to fly home from London Monday so we are doubling our prayer efforts!) Our love, Lloyd & Blythe
Just continuing to pray for this life changing event in your lives, Pastor Don, Pete and Dorie. As God told his disciples, "go and preach the word" that is what you are doing with your actions and with your dedication. What a blessing that you have helped out church connect to another part of the world. What a mighty God we serve. Blessings for your remainder of your time, blessings for your trip back. We love you folks and pray for you. The Saxby's Tom and Leanne
We truly appreciate your blog and just hearing what you're experiencing does make us feel we are a small part of something much larger than ourselves. It looks like you are all making lots of friends no matter where you go. We're praying!
